Cultural Competence and Cultural Humility in Clinical Practice: Beyond Awareness Toward Action
As therapists, we encounter people with a wide variety of identities and expressions, how do we approach them in a way that embraces these differences and minimizes harm? How do we apply the ethical principles of our professions in our decision making around cultural engagement. Join Nancy Hollis and Peter Lachman in discussing multicultural competency in the therapy space. This training will meet 2 hours of cultural competence requirements.
1. Define cultural competence, cultural humility, and intersectionality in clinical contexts.
2. Identify how implicit bias, microaggressions, and systemic inequities impact therapeutic relationships.
3. Apply social justice principles and ethical decision-making models to culturally responsive care.
4. Demonstrate strategies for self-assessment and ongoing professional development in multicultural competency.
5. Identify how to integrate trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches when working with diverse populations.

Inclusive Insight is a place that is as healing for our healers as it is for our clients. We believe humans thrive in connection and community, feeling seen and heard for who they are and what they have experienced. We are a diverse group of clinicians and inspiration-makers who know that to hold others in their process, we must also feel held. Staff are experts in their own identities, lives and careers. We are better clinicians by bringing our whole selves to our work.
