ABOUT ME:

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in providing services to people dealing with life transitions, and those working to survive trauma, anxiety, depression and other oppressive life events and conditions. In addition to my work as a therapist, I work as a professor teaching social work to Bachelor’s and Master’s Level students. I received both my MSW and PhD from Loyola University of Chicago’s School of Social Work. My dissertation explored the “Nature of Hope Among Women Who Experience Homelessness,” and I have extensive experience working with women and men who have experienced homelessness, trauma, mental health concerns and discrimination. In addition, I am a certified Aromatherapist specializing in Trauma-Informed Care and Holistic Self-Care. I use “relational” therapies to form a connection with others that promotes trust. I have an interest in understanding how early childhood relationships inform current relationships and how unwanted “cycles” can be changed or broken in an effort to enjoy a more fulfilling and productive life. I have experience using psychodynamic approaches (including Bowen Family Systems Therapy, Object Relations, Self- Psychology, Feminist modalities and Internal Family Systems) and Cognitive-Behavioral approaches (including Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. It is important to me to utilize the approaches and methods that best fit the needs of the person with whom I am working.
