my approach:
My approach to counseling is rooted in trauma-aware practices, feminist and queer approaches, and strengths-based frameworks. I blend empathy, creativity, and sarcasm to create a warm, affirming space where you can grow, explore, and flourish at your own pace. In our work together, I will hold space for every part of who you are—your gender, culture, history, relationships—and how these pieces intersect to shape your story. We’ll work collaboratively to understand how your experiences and identities inform the way you move through the world. My clinical interests include working with adolescents, young adults, and adults who are experiencing challenging life transitions, gender and sexuality identity discovery, alcohol and substance use, trauma and trauma recovery, and mental health concerns such as anxiety and depression.
thoughts for new clients:
Reaching out for support can feel nerve-wracking, especially in the world we live in! I understand firsthand the importance of finding a safe, affirmative space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment. My role isn’t to tell you what to do, but to walk beside you as you discover what healing looks like for you. Progress isn’t always linear, and that’s okay. We’ll honor where you are, celebrate each step forward, and embrace the power of joy along the way.
ABOUT ME:
Hi, I’m Summer! My personal journey navigating identity and access to care fuels my deep commitment to providing competent, compassionate support for LGBTQIA2S+ folks. In a world that often invalidates us, it is pivotal that we have spaces where we feel seen for who we truly are. I have experience as a confidential advocate for individuals impacted by sexual violence and as a facilitator for substance use and trauma recovery in a collegiate setting. These roles taught me the importance of creating environments where folks feel safe and validated to be their authentic selves.
